Written around 1606, the play had many mishaps during production. Rumor has it that the play was cursed and was never mentioned aloud. Instead, it was called The Scottish Play. The play was based around the monarchy existing in England and Scotland at the time. Though very different from his other works like a Romeo and Juliet essay, Macbeth has been appreciated by people, as Shakespeare has been able to bring mystery and superstition to life in his play.
Macbeth is the kinsman and general in the army of King Duncan of Scotland. He is a man of valor and is introduced in the play as the one who defeats the allied forces of Norway and Ireland. Banquo is Macbeth’s ally in the war. An essay writing exercise can connect the different stages of the play. The three witches enter addressing Macbeth that he would one day be King. Banquo is told that though he would himself not be King, but his descendants would. It was a time when prophesies were followed up on. Fleance manages to escape. Macbeth goes back to the witches who prophesy three events. One is that Macbeth should beware Macduff. The second is that Macbeth would not be killed until Birnam Wood moved. The third was that no man born normally of a woman would kill him. Macbeth goes back relieved. Guilt and shame pursue both Macbeth and his wife who supposedly commits suicide. Macbeth has to face an army led by Macduff and Malcolm. In the final stages of the play, Macbeth is confronted by Macduff who had a caesarian birth and is beheaded. Finally, Malcolm is made King.
